This week has been an eventful one for San Antonio's dining scene, as the Michelin Guide recognized several area restaurants at its first Texas ceremony on Monday, November 11. The same day of the awards ceremony, Jorge Cortez, a local icon with a storied restaurant legacy, passed away at age 81, leading to an outpouring of condolences from some of the city's biggest figures.

Moo Deng restaurant comes to San Antonio
A new restaurant is coming to Fredericksburg Road with a meme-inspired name. Moo Deng Thai Restaurant has put up signage with a cutesy hippo mascot at its soon-to-open location a few blocks away from The Wicked Wich and Garcia's Mexican Food. MySA has reached out to the restaurant to find out more details.

Bakery Lorraine parts ways with founders
According to a report from San Antonio Current, Anne Ng and Jeremy Mandrell are no longer involved with Bakery Lorraine, which they founded in 2011. The report states that co-founder Charlie Biedenharn will remain with the Texas chain of bakeries known for their macarons and other French delicacies.

Bar House opens San Antonio location
The wait is over for Schertz-based Bar House's foray into San Antonio. The bar's newest location is set inside of a historic home on North Alamo Street, with plenty of room for drinking and merriment.

Melvin's is nearly ready to open
Max & Louie's New York Diner is launching its new coffee and ice cream concept very soon. The diner posted an update about Melvin's on social media, sharing a new Instagram account for the espresso bar. We'll keep our eyes peeled for when the grand opening date.

La Honky Tonk is coming to Broadway
The former Augie's BBQ location on Broadway is getting new life in the form of La Honky Tonk, a sister bar to El Honky Tonk, which is located downtown. The new concept is expected to open this month, according to a report from San Antonio Express-News.

Acadiana Cafe makes a comeback with catering
San Antonio lost one of its longest-running Cajun restaurants when Acadiana Cafe called it quits earlier this year. However, the La Coste City Hotel recently hosted a catering trailer from the time-honored restaurant. The hotel posted on Facebook about the collaboration, and MySA has reached out to find out more about the frequency of service and the menu offerings.

A new combination Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins restaurant has debuted on the city's Eastside, according to a press release.

St. Paul Square to host outdoor farmers market
On Sunday, November 17, St. Paul Square will kickoff a free outdoor farmers market and donation-based yoga event at The Espee. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekly and will include fresh produce, handcrafted goods and food from various vendors.
